A Lim Kim's First Ace in Competition at LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship

SOMIS, Calif. - In the second pairing of the third round for the LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship, A Lim Kim approached the 13th hole at The Saticoy Club 1-under on the day, staring down the 162-yard par 3. Choosing a 7 iron, Lim played aggressive, and with a little bit of “luck,” as she said, watched her ball roll into the hole for her first ace ever in competition. It is the 30th hole-in-one this season, making it the first season since 2019 (32 total) to reach at least 30 aces in a year. The all-time record is 37, set in both 1999 and 2001.

“I make the shot, it's perfect, and then pin is 160 yard and then my club choice is 7-iron, so really I think lucky, yeah,” said Kim, who is in her fourth year on Tour.

Another ace on Tour also means another $20,000 towards St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, thanks to the CME Group Cares Challenge, a season-long charitable giving program that turns aces into donations. With 30 aces, the total raises to $600,000, which more than covers the average cost ($425,000) needed to treat a pediatric cancer patient.

“This is shot is first hole in one for me,” said a smiling Kim. “Really excited and great memories for me.”
